yes i am... unless my professor lied. So I am boasting about it because it is worth boasting. Kick me...
My lab professor mailed me today asking me to sign some papers in his office.
Prof : Have you checked your results today?
Me : Not yet
Prof : You didn't do well for my paper
Me : Yeah I knew it after I submitted the test paper (each question was 20marks and I wrote an entirely different grandma story for one of the questions, only to realize it after the exams. 20 marks gone. There were 2 other questions which I wasn't clear also, so make that 15marks. Lose another 6 marks and I will fail the paper. No re-test)
Me : So... what is my score?
Prof : 70+
Me : Liddat only is it?!! .... oh ok ....
Prof : But you did better than 3 of your other labmates. The other 2 had 60+
Me : ... ooh ...
Yeah, kinda sucky to learn that all 4 students majoring in Silviculture cannot perform well in this paper (Silviculture aka tree planting... make it sound easier)
At least it is good to learn that I am after all smarter than some Japanese students whom I thought are birdbrains all these while... The way my course mates study always give me that impression, making me feel like one of the worst performers. You won't get what I mean until you see how these people study for exam. crazy!!
Nah... its only one paper anyway. That doesn't mean I am smarter than them. But it made my day brighter !
Sorry. Lack of updates.
I've been cramming for the 3rd week now.
First paper begins tomorrow. The 7th (last) one is next Wednesday. And at the moment I've submitted my lab report on the 7th, I've officially completed 5/8 terms.
The end
2 success stories for today - July 16th 2009.
1. I swam for 50m non stop, freestyle. New record.
2. My tutor happily told me that one master student (who was there during my presentation) told her (my tutor) that I did a good job for my lab presentation.
The end ...
First of all, I express my gratitude for getting a scholarship. FINALLY! ... after 3 years of pain in the butt cramming...
It's not much, but still better than not receiving at all.
Then I have a presentation on Thursday to prepare for and a test on Friday and Monday.
A clip we saw in class (Erosion Control) the other day. Just felt like sharing it. It's only one minute... watch it.
Question : Do you have second thoughts of investing in these areas?
ok, keep quiet and concentrate on my report. I also have a test on Friday.
(it means map drawing)
I've been a fan of maps since young and as far as I recall, the first map I've analyzed was the map of Peninsular Malaysia, back in primary school. The things I did with it was memorizing the interchanges along the PLUS Highway. But of course, I've forgotten most of it by now. Where is Taiping ah? in Famosa?? ... owh well... hahahaa...
Then in Primary School, I played computer games like Theme Hospital, Sim City, Sim Town, Sims and Roller Coaster Tycoon... anything that involved realistic mapping and construction.
Then ... I got myself obsessed with subway networks somewhere in Standard 6 when I got to know about the London Tube... and that obsession continues till today- Yamanote Line in Tokyo. Simply stunning ...
Anyway, its getting out of topic. I'm going to talk about drawing maps - something I learn in Forest Surveying
Continue reading Cartography.

Today's routine for my experiment was sooo boring ..... I could've died in the lab....
Literally....
Here's how....
Diam... I know what went wrong... Don't tell me.
Anyway it's all someone's fault for posting up photos of Hainanese breakfast.
Continue reading Hainanese Breakfast and Springtime Farm.
From today onwards, my major is officially Silviculture... simple said, tree planting, which was my first choice and got accepted to work with this lab because the competition for that major wasn't too bad compared to other majors.
