I wished I were a Japanese

(my blog is gonna die if i dont update)

(empty lot here for photo)

Sometimes I wished that my name would have just been Tokunaga Yasuhiro or whatever...
Stressed points of title :
1. Its not because I dont like my name...
2. Its not because I hate the Japanese...
3. Its because I'm curious...

here's the reason...

A conversation between hairstylist in her 40s, (HS) and I ... ( i cut my hair by the way, this time in a new place... and left my eyebrows untouched... again)

HS and I talked about student life at university, about labworks and faculty stuffs...then came the venomous question...

HS : where do you live?
me : international house
HS : oh... ya.. why is it called international house? (its just 2 blocks away so she knows where it is)
me : because foreign students live there too.
HS : oh... so do the foreign students pay less?
me : nono... the rent is the same for everyone

HS and I talked about the price, compared with apartments nearby.

HS : *lowers her voice* ... Its great being Japanese eh... dont you think? (something like that)
me : uh.........?

At this point, I was dead inside.. I wish i could lie about my identity to find out what more she has to say about aliens.

me : actually.... I'm not Japanese

- HS's turn to be dead inside -  (in cantonese we call this scenario 'gawng zhor yeh' )

HS : ( that usual drag of eehhhhh ♪ ) X 1 million times ... then where are you from? (eehhhhh ♪ ) X 1 million
me :  SEA ( not like she'll know where Malaysia is )
HS : Why do you look so much like a Japanese??!  ... (eehhhhh ♪ ) X 1 million
me : ... uh... i dont know... ♪
HS then started talking bout languages and all.. thinking that the whole SEA speaks just one language.

I like my hairstyle very much now...but I have fears of entering that salon for the second time.

there are only two possibilities here:
1. HR is too stupid to recognise your japanese, although you are not one.
2. your japanese is as fluent as the real japanese already.

i will place my money on the first possibility on any day.
