taking things for granted (updated)
I'm not gonna talk much...
1. I'm down with a fever because the STUPID weather was so hot and the STUPID supermarket turned on the aircon to its max...or... the STUPID weather has been hot and at night its so cold all of a sudden....
2. I have 2 more reports to complete... thaaaank goodness I chose not to take plant biotech ... my friends are suffering with 3 reports... ngek ngek ngek
anyway back to the topic...
you know how we've always gone through life, just like that... without realizing what the truth is and what happens behind it? ... Simple english would be taking things for granted... (Mrs Ramani's voice echoing)
An example would be McDonalds....
Back in Msia... we had burgers with soggy lettuce, wrinkle-as-they-shrink patties (my friend used this term..lol), god-knows-when-its-harvested-tomatoes, soggy fries... cola that tastes more like water...
I've never realized the above statements until yesterday when my friend told me a story.
(ok, i did mind about the lettuce)
Anyway... we've never complained... I've never complained about msian mcds' quality...
Afterall... that's there we ate after formal events back in sec school...
Well, I do complain but its the price I'm complaining about...
I have a friend who works in McDs for a part time job. He told me that...
After 7 (geddit?... seven) minutes, all french fries are thrown away ...
After 15? minutes, all beef burgers are thrown away...
grilled burger with sauce like teriyaki burger wil be thrown after 50minutes...
after (insert small number), all nuggets will be thrown away... etc etc etc
And absolutely NO staff should bring home those food...because if you eat them, you can blame McDs for food poisoning omg...
well taiwan does the same thing but at least the supervisor closes one eye when the staff brings home the food...
That was what my taiwanese friend told me...
I pay 580yen (almost rm18) for this meal ... but NEVER realized how fresh it is...

No wonder... the cheese is still in shape... lol
well, maybe McDs in msia does the same thing too....but i can assure you that the staff eats them all... which is why every branch of McDs in msia... (well i was just referring to a few in KL, lol) has a fat supervisor/manager.
Goodness... I've been taking things for granted since I came here...
and if i've taken things for granted...what more the locals... (well at least not for those who works in food chains, maybe)
And I seriously think that everyone who is raised in a developed nation should be isolated in a developing nation for at least a year...
And regarding that issue... I have a lot to talk about so much so i can seriously think about writing my own book and publish it...
And also, I can definately 101% assure you ... travelling in another country .. and being isolated in another country... they're TOTALLY DIFFERENT ...
and even if you think you're travelling to learn about another culture... you're not... 100% guranteed. The only culture you've learnt is what kind of dances the locals do and what kinda things they eat... what kinda chopsticks they use..
Ok, I shouldnt get too long winded because I seriously think I can start writing a book if I were to talk about my discoveries ...
By the way, did you know that a super high class restaurant chain has been closed down and sued...
because the manager made the chefs reuse the decorative food not touched by previous customers...
Back in msia, I can assure you that the cucumbers used to decorate the chicken are re-used items...but nobody complains... and I know I don't....
Well, I'm not saying that anyone i've mentioned is wrong... its fast food afterall... but still... do you really think that is necessary?
*updated*
I was on skype with my msian friend who lives in Tsukuba. She works in a convenient store for part time.
She was trained to make parfait... and she failed for the first 3 times because it wasnt a perfect one ...
And when she asked if she could eat it instead because its a waste... the supervisor said no... *dump*
(google images) now you know why things in Japan are so beautiful and expensive... Any
consumer would be happy to pay for what they get... including me... but ... the story behind is
really devastating...
then again, I'm not pointing fingers at anyone saying they're right or wrong. Its all because of the customers.
Every issue on this planet... Every mistake... Every Britney and Bush created... its all mankind's fault....

Someone taught me how to get free groceries!

I'm with you. I rather they make the food after we order than throw the food if nobody orders them. I'm quite fussy when it comes to food cause I hate it when somebody throw away food for nothing.
Actually, I heard in the news that there is no law regarding reusing decoration food..as long as there is no complain what so ever, you can reuse it (good for the government)..It's just that the food company had done a lot of "sagi" that their trust had been down to 0%. That's why they went bankrupt.
hmmm well come to think of it Bush is mankinds mistake, people complained about terrorism and osama so bush did what they wanted he attacked iraq and afghanistan.
By the way kok hong FINISH YOUR REPORTS.
