that's one of the reasons to why this blog was neglected over the past few days

banner workstage buillding

I've never seen Gakuen this crowded before...

btw, today's morning's temperature was 2.8C ... eek!

I had to work from sunrise till sunset for the past 3 days. For my case, I had to help out 2 stalls; Malaysian Students' stall and Canoe Club's stall.

It was a nightmare carrying all those steel bars and canvas from one end of the uni to the other end.

In conclusion, uni fest was fun. Read on :

Month - 4, -3, -2, -1 : .. Those are negative signs. The preparation started months before.

Now I know why Japanese sell almost the same things in stalls in every festival. Karaage, ika yaki, yakitori, crepe etc... saaaame old thing...

They're so strict about food hygiene that what we were able to sell was limited. We couldnt sell choco banana cos banana isnt heated; and a lot of malaysian food couldn't be sold because of many reasons; mainly ingredients used.

Day 0 - Friday : Preparation

               try hashi

For a couple of nights, Canoe club (The club's name is actually River Touring) members tried making the perfect

  hashimaki (okonomiyaki on chopsticks)

Tandoori Chicken in the making ... by Malaysian students.

Look at what I drew! ... I drew a map of Asia and labelled clearly that "Here is MALAYSIA!!"

Ju was sick so she wore a mask.

Ever wondered how my handwriting on pink paper stained with teh tarik would look like?

We set up the tents while some went to parade at the main street in the city.

If you take note, the one by International Hostel is a pirate ship. hmm... Foreigners = pirates??

I particularly liked the one by Medical Faculty...

   Sunrise

 Sunset

All ready ...

Day 1 : University Festival (Gakusai)

We were all so busy. Thank goodness some Indon friends came to help since they didn't open their own stall.

Everyone wanted a piece of tandoori chicken with nasi briyani as well as teh tarik. Few customers came back several times cos I was so attractive.. nolaaa...for the food..
None of us Malaysian students got to eat this... everything was sold out.

Ah Lim (Azlin) made teh tarik and the customers all went..... sugeh.... sugehh...

Malaysian stall was overwhelmingly busy that I ended up not helping Canoe Club...lol...

Then I took out a time slot to attend a forum to discuss about education system in Japan and home country.

Totally drained out... Worked from 6.30am till 11pm +

Day 2 : University Festival

I had much more fun on this day. I was the mascot for the Malysian stall. Saw my friends performed in silly acts; saw some demonstration of martial arts, nihon style... and the day ended with a lot of work and fireworks display at the field; sponsored by a few driving schools.

This was the most entertaining... Josou.. a performance by guys dressed up as girls and some of the people I know were involved...

Jasmine, I think that guy standing up with his eyes closed wearing a hairband looks like you.

I went to sibuk at the Chinese stall. They were selling 'sui gau'

Only today I realized that there are so many students from China in this uni... amazing. In fact, I've never seen some of them before...

Day 2 - over !! ....

Malaysian tandoori sold out. Chinese Sui gau sold out.

River Touring Club's hashimaki; sold out...
geez... I'm always the one without the peace sign...

FIreworks display at the field... the end
