Medical Check-up

| | Comments (5)

There was a medical check-up for all foreign students the other day, and some of us SEA people were behaving like jakuns again...lol

Basically it was first come first serve and just by co-incidence, P-ja (msia) and Midha (indon) lined up behind me. And we chatted and somewhat made fun of msian and indon medical technology.

1. An automatic scale which talks.

SEA : steel bars with numbers... or nurses closing one eye to see ... or a measurement chart with a picture of a ladder stuck onto the wall. weighing scale with a horizontal bar and a block to make the bar balanced

Japan : Stand on a platform. It has a pedal like thing which descends, pat your head and goes back up. Results printed out on the spot.

Results :
Height  : 169.4cm
Weight : 53.8kg
Fat %  :  14.0% (normal category)
BMI     :  18.7    (normal category)
Practical weight : 63.1kg (which means i have to put on 10kg to be super normal)

Overall, I am normal. The Korean guy in front of me is underweight.

2. A mobile X-ray van.

I heard of mobile clinic... Xray ...mobile... hmm....

Results : gotta wait

3. Machine operated blood pressure analyzer.

SEA : nurses strapping some thing around your arm and pumping the thing with her life out...

Jap : Its a machine which you put your arm through a ring and and relax, then the machine will 'squeeze' your arm slowly ... Results printed out on the spot.

High : 118    (near perfect)
Low : 70      (near perfect)

I am normal.

4. Eyesight test

SEA : machine to look into. You see a hot air balloon which floats further and further into the horizon or analyze mixed up alphabets inside a dark room...

Jap : It works like an arcade game. You look into the machine, they display a lot of "O" with a small gap. then you use the joystick to move up, down, left, right to indicate where you think the gap is. and if you can't tell, press the button with a question mark. Results printed out on the spot.

Right eye : 1.5
Left eye   : 1.2

I dont know which is bad...

5. Blood test.

Same old technique. I was expecting something more advanced...

Results : to be out soon.

6. Brain test.

Same technique.

Results : normal

(nah... that was crap)

Here's an interesting one.

When i first received this in April during faculty orientation, I thought they gave out free ballpen.

I had that kinda thought cos we received a faculty pen during the entrance ceremony. And wondered why is it called Peepole... its like "people'' pronounced in the china-man way.

I opened it and found that it was a pole to collect your pee.

this picture explains it all...

Seriously, I am normal ....
