kota malang

My friend is from Indonesia. She's from a town called Malang. She calls herself Orang Malang.

Its funny ... the way she describes it. Malang in Bahasa Indonesia (or was it Bahasa Jawa?) .... anyway, malang means silang in BM. 

So she said, "ada 4 gunung kat sebelah kota ni. Tapi malang tau; hampir setiap hari saya buka suratkhabar 'Gunung Merapi akan meletus.... gunung berapi akan meletus, kata saintis....aduii...'' 

Surrounded by 4 mountains... it means, if Gunung Merapi erupts, this town will scoop up the ashes like a big ladle.

It sounds like an interesting place to visit. And so I searched up the internet to read more about this town. It is quite beautiful also ... although the infrasturucture's a teeny bit like Malaysia.

Then I visited the town's website ... I couldn't help, but ended up laughing.

(they were in the same primary school as i)

Then I opened Google Earth to check out how the town 'silang' in the middle of 4 mountains...

To my surprise, ITS NOT GUNUNG!! .... ITS GUNUNG BERAPI!!

good heavens....
