Miyajima

ya apa mau

This is a deer....

Miyajima(宮島)  is an island. It is literally translated to ... shrine island.

Miyajima is just a 10 minute ferry ride from the port. Hiroshima to the port takes around 1hr by tram, 20~30 mins by train.

this is miyajima

* Honshu is that big long main island by the way....

tram and pass

We bought the one day pass for 840yen (RM25). Unlimited rides on the tram plus a return ferry to Miyajima.

(JR pass holders ignore that line)...

(no pictures of the ferry)

As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by A LOT of babis bambis.....

a lot of deers

they're sooo cute.... how can we leave just like that without monkeying around with them....

and so.....

sunglasses

Calvin tried putting sunglasses on it....

horny

I had a horny time with them....

eyerr

One got pissed off....

taknak

Calvin tried to feeding them with lemonade but failed...

ok enough deers... we're not here for them anyway... The purpose of visiting Miyajima of course.. is...

gateway

It is said that MIyajima is one of the 3 scenic spots of Japan. I don't know the other 2... i guess it'll be Mt. Fuji and Wan Kok Hong's rented apartment... haha

very scenic indeed...

(the red block on the left is where i live)

back to the real scene..... Itsukushima Jinja .... I - tsu - ku - shi - ma   (practice makes perfect)

I'll leave you to practise...

itsukushima mosaic

This shrine is old... i dont know how old but it is... The famous thing is that gateway thing...

What is so special you asked ??

- By far, this gate thing (torii) is the largest I've seen so far and it's special... well .... I guess this the picture tells.....

high low tide

It was really hot ... trust me... very very hot.... i've got super tanned....

we looked up into the sky....

no cloud pagoda

owh shit

say what

yikes...don't insult their poop.... lucky that the whole herd didnt come after us

back to the shrine... (crowded with tourists)

Well... worth taking a walk ... just for the sake of it since we're here... Its a world heritage as certified by UNESCO...

difficult photos

do you have ANY IDEA how difficult it is to take those pictures ???

.... It was so crowded and we actually waited for the crowd to leave just to take the picture on the left... and some of them were SO INCOSIDERATE... knowing that we wanna take pictures... they still wanna walk in...

We actually re-entered the shrine later in the evening ... just to take another round of pictures... like the one on the right side....

That explains why the corridor covered in the left picture is so much shorter ...

Before the re-entry.... we were walking arond the island... went to the aquarium... trekked a bit... but had to return for the 6pm ferry... if not we had to board the last one at 8pm. Hostel curfew was at 10.

We wanted to take the cable car up the hill then trek all the way down to the ferry pier...

by the way... read this...

ropeway sign

well... cable car stopped its service for the day.... Lucky for us I think, ... we saved 1000yen (RM30) each...

To round off the entry... here are my 3 favourite shots...

torii

sunshine deers

I like the way the sun shined in this photo... and how those two deer posed for me

ah pek outside

*michelle : aiyo... this kid will never grow up la...*

Ok ... its the end again....

see ya
